My journey has never been a straight line, but it’s always been rooted in love and resilience. At sixteen, I became a mom. That moment could have broken me, but instead, it gave me strength. I was blessed to have a loving support system with my parents and siblings who stood by me and helped me to keep moving forward. That foundation allowed me to dream bigger, even when the odds seemed stacked against me.
Food became my love language. I cooked not just to feed, but to connect, to heal, and create joy. That path eventually led me into teaching history based cooking classes, then into storytelling through cookbooks, and later, into the entertainment world. Stepping into television as a chef gave me a new stage to share who I am as a creative not just recipes, but culture, humor, and heart. Becoming a TV personality showed me that my story had power, and that people connected not just to what I cooked, but to the life I’ve lived. I took that personal and I wanted to open my life as much as possible to inspire people to do whatever is in their hearts.
Now, with Poetic Just•ice Cream, I’ve stepped into entrepreneurship, blending everything I’ve learned through resilience, creativity, storytelling, and vision. Each flavor is more than ice cream, it’s a chapter of my journey, a reminder that sweet things can come from even the hardest beginnings.
When I share my food, my ice cream, or my story, I want people to see possibility. If a teenage mom from New Orleans could build this path with love, grit, and faith , then someone else can look at their own dream and say, why not me?
Poetic Just•ice Cream is just the beginning. Dessert with depth. Flavor with story. And proof that justice can be sweet.
